Experience:
Dr Bunnage is a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Chartered Psychologist (C.Psychol) and HPC-registered. He specialises in adult neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.
Dr Bunnage has been practicing Clinical Neuropsychology at Frenchay Hospital since January 2002, and has worked in a broad variety of settings including, neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychiatry and brain injury rehabilitation. He became Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist in 2007.
Presently within his NHS role he is the Clinical Lead and Manager of Avon's multi-disciplinary community brain injury rehabilitation service. He is also Clinical Director for post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology and holds the academic position of Honorary Senior Lecturer.
He currently divides his time between his NHS practice, private practice and research and teaching. He is interested in all aspects of adult clinical neuropsychology, especially the neuropsychological assessment and treatment of acquired brain injury (including traumatic brain injury).
Dr Bunnage is a Full Practictioner Member of the Division of Neuropsychology of the British Psychological Society. He is a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
Dr Bunnage joined NPsych as an associate in 2006 to further develop his medico-legal practice. Dr Bunnage accepts claimant, defendant and joint instructions. He also accepts instructions in clinical negligence. He has received specific training in writing expert witness reports and working as an expert witness. He works on a turn around time of 4 weeks from the date of assessment for the production of his report. If reports are required more urgently then this may be accommodated but can only be guaranteed by prior arrangement.
Dr Bunnage works under the model of scientist practitioner and attempts to employ both scientific and clinical methods in his approach to assessment and reporting. He uses tests that have good psychometric properties. He undertakes assessments of sufficient depth and breadth to maximise the reliability and validity of his findings. Dr Bunnage's reports are detailed and thorough and reflect his commitment to excellence in terms of the scientifically reliable practice of clinical neuropsychology.
In addition to his work as an expert witness Dr Bunnage provides clinical leadership and consultation to case managers working with brain injured clients and is happy to provide training in working with brain injured people to support workers and other staff organised by case managers to help with the rehabilitation and care of brain-injured persons.
Dr Bunnage also provides neuropsychological rehabilitation and CBT-based treatments via one-to-one sessions to individuals that have experienced brain injuries.
