Experience:
Prior to working in private practice, I acquired over 16 years experience working as a Forensic Psychologist within HMP Prison Service. Over recent years, I have expanded my skills by training in psychological coaching models. I am a Registered Psychologist Practitioner within the Health Professions Council. I now provide services both as a forensic psychologist and as a coaching psychologist.
Forensic services: Psychological assessments on adults, including those with histories of violence (including murder, domestic violence, reactive violence, instrumental violence), sexual offending (against both children and adults) and arson. I am experienced in using a wide range of empirically-based clinical judgment tools (e.g. HCR-20, SARA), WAIS-IV (for assessment of cognitive functioning, IQ and learning style) and personality assessment tools (PCL-R psychopathy assessment,IPDE and MCMI). I am familiar with RSVP and SVR-20 sex offender assessment tools, and with the practice of using psychometrics within risk assessment. I have experience of giving expert evidence with regard to my assessment of offenders. Alongside assessments for Court, I also provide individualized cognitive-behavioural interventions to clients e.g. anger management, relationship skills, relapse prevention, etc.
Coaching services: I provide a range of services including coaching, problem-solving/solution-finding, and personal/professional support for both organizations and individuals. This can assist in addressing performance-inibiting issues (e.g. presentation anxiety, avoidance, perfectionism), emotional difficulites (e.g. PTSD/stress, anxiety) or lifestyle factors (e.g. poor work-life balance).
